Description:
Campylobacter is a genus of gram-negative bacteria that can cause diarrhea, cramps, abdominal pain, and fever within 2-5 days of infections and in most people, the illness lasts for 7-10 days. Some individuals may develop Guillain-Barré syndrome where the nerves joining the spinal cord and brain to the body are damaged. The bacteria is usually transmitted through ingestion of contaminated food.
