Detection of Candida species by PCR
Clongen Labs is proud to announce the addition of a new assay for the detection of Candida species by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) to our expanding molecular diagnostics menu. The assay detects the most clinically significant Candida species in clinical samples. The following species can be detected by this assay:
- Candida albicans (causes >70% of all clinical cases)
- Candida dubliniensis
- Candida krusei
- Candida viswanathii
- Candida galbrata
- Candida inconspicua
- Candida parapsilosis
- Candida tropicalis
We also offer Candida detection using selective microbiology media and germ tube method for the distinction of Candida albicans from other Candida species. Samples can be collected from any clinical source depending on the infection (mouth washings, vaginal or cervical swabs, urine, cerebrospinal fluid, blood, synovial fluid, lung washings, etc.). For sample submission, please download the Clinical Laboratory Test request form, complete the information and send it along with the sample and a form of payment.
