RPR Syphilis Test
Clongen Laboratories offer a non-treponemal flocculation test that detects reagin in human serum. This test is a serological test for the diagnosis of syphilis. The RPR test is used in conjunction with a treponemal test to diagnose syphilis. In this test, cabron particle cardiolipin antigen detects "reagin", a substance present in serum from syphilitic individuals and occasionally in serum from patients with other chronic and acute conditions. Clumping of the carbon particles upon addition of the patient serum indicates a positive test result. Sample requirements:Serum: collect blood in serum separator tubes (no anticoagulants) and separate the serum from blood cells as soon after collection as possible. Send samples cooled (on ice packs) overnight for testing along with the test request form (download here), a doctors request and a form of payment (check or completed credit card form, download here). Cost of the test: $40. Turnaround time: 1 day
